Privacy Policy
Effective 16 October 2026
This policy explains what information PerkHour collects when you use perkhour.com or our text messages, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have.
Who we are
PerkHour runs PerkHour. PerkHour shows time-limited perks from local shops near you. You claim a perk with your phone number and show a code at the counter. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean PerkHour.
You can contact us about privacy at any time:
- Company
- PerkHour
- support@perkhour.com
What we collect
When you claim a perk
- Your phone number. You give it to us to claim a perk or to get perk alerts. We check whether it is a mobile, landline or internet-based number, to stop fake and throwaway numbers.
- One-time code verification. We text you a code to prove the number is yours. Our text message provider checks the code. We keep a record that your number was verified and when.
- Your age confirmation and agreement to our terms. When you claim, you confirm you are 18 or older and accept our Terms of Use. We record when you did this.
- Claim and redemption history. Which perks you claimed, at which shop and when; your ticket code; whether the ticket was redeemed, cancelled or expired; and, if you answer it, whether it was your first visit to the shop.
- Your location at claim time. When you claim, we ask your browser for your location to check that you are close enough to the shop. We use it to work out your distance from the shop. We keep only a distance band (for example, “within 200 meters”) and how accurate the reading was, not your coordinates. If you tap “Show perks near me”, we use your location only to sort the perks you see and do not store it. We never track your location in the background.
- Perk alerts, if you ask for them. Alerts are optional. If you tick the alerts box, we record the zone (the neighborhood) you subscribed to and a record of your consent: the exact words you agreed to, the time, your IP address, your browser’s user agent and the page you were on.
Automatically, when you use perkhour.com
- Device and browser data. Your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view and the link or QR code that brought you to PerkHour. We keep these records ourselves. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising tools.
- Cookies. We use only our own cookies. After you verify your number, we set a remembered-device cookie that lasts 30 days, so you don’t need a new code every time you claim on the same browser. When you open a perk page, we also set a random anonymous ID (kept for one year) and a note of the link or QR code that brought you to PerkHour (kept for 30 days), so we can count visits and see which cards and links work. Neither holds your name, number or location. You can delete these cookies at any time in your browser settings. We do not use advertising cookies.
When you contact us
- Replies to our texts (such as HELP, STOP or DELETE) and the emails you send to support.
If you run a shop on PerkHour
- Your name, email address and mobile number; your business details; the perks you post, including perks you post by text; and billing details. Card and bank details are collected and stored by our payments processor. We do not store full card or bank account numbers.
How we use it
- To run PerkHour: send your code, issue your ticket, check that you are close enough to the shop, and let the shop’s staff check your ticket.
- To send perk alerts, only if you asked for them.
- To prevent fraud and abuse, such as fake numbers, automated claiming and claiming more than the limits allow.
- To keep the records the law requires, such as your consent to texts and your opt-outs.
- To answer your questions and requests.
- To bill shops for redeemed perks.
- To understand how PerkHour is used, using counts and totals, not profiles of individuals.
Who we share it with
- Service providers. Companies that help us run PerkHour, such as our text message provider (to send texts, check codes and check the type of number), our payments processor (to bill shops) and our hosting provider (to run our servers and store backups). They may use your information only to provide their service to us.
- Shops. When you show your ticket, the shop sees the ticket code, the perk and when it was claimed. Shops never see your phone number.
- When the law requires it. To answer a valid legal request, or to protect someone’s safety or our legal rights.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it for targeted advertising.
Global Privacy Control
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale of your personal data and of targeted advertising. We already do neither, so you don’t need to do anything else.
How long we keep it
- Your phone number and claim history: while you use PerkHour, until you ask us to delete them.
- After you ask us to delete your data: we remove your phone number and anonymize your account. We keep a record that a ticket was redeemed, with nothing that identifies you, so we can bill shops correctly and count results.
- Consent and opt-out records: up to 5 years, even after you delete your data. We keep them for legal reasons: to show we had your permission to text you and to keep honoring your opt-out. Access to them is restricted and they are used for nothing else.
- Suppression list: when you opt out or delete your data, we keep a hashed (scrambled, one-way) copy of your phone number so we don’t text you again by mistake.
- Location: we never store your coordinates. The distance band stays with the claim.
Your choices and rights
Delete your data
You can delete your data in any of these ways:
- From your ticket page. Open any ticket link we texted you and choose “Delete my data”. We text a code to that phone to check it’s you, and your data is deleted straight away.
- By text. Text DELETE to the PerkHour number that texts you. Your data is deleted straight away and we send one text to confirm.
- By email. Email support@perkhour.com from any address. We’ll check the request is yours, for example by texting a code to the number.
We complete every request within 30 days of getting it. Requests from the ticket page or by text are done at once.
When we delete your data, we:
- remove your phone number and anything else that identifies you from your account;
- cancel any live ticket you have;
- stop all texts to your number, including perk alerts; and
- leave you out of the reports and exports we make from then on.
We keep only what we must:
- records of redeemed perks, without your name or number, so we can bill shops correctly;
- your consent and opt-out records, for legal reasons (see How long we keep it); and
- a hashed copy of your number on our suppression list, so we don’t text you again by mistake.
See a copy of your data
Email support@perkhour.com. We’ll check the request is yours and reply within 30 days.
Other choices
- Correct your data: email us.
- Stop texts: reply STOP to any message. See our SMS Terms.
- Location: you can turn location off in your browser settings. You can still browse perks, but you won’t be able to claim perks that need you nearby.
- Appeal: if we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our answer. If you are still unhappy, you can contact your state attorney general.
We won’t treat you differently for using any of these rights.
Children
PerkHour is not for children. You must be 18 or older to use it. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we delete it.
Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit, limited staff access, and codes and tickets that expire quickly. Shops never see your phone number. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date. If a change is significant, we will also post a notice on perkhour.com before it takes effect.
